Question 1: What is life like for a street kid?



The life of a street kid can be so exposed to violence that these incidents become quite normal.
Street children live in abandoned buildings, cardboard boxes, parks or on the street itself. Life on the streets is dangerous; Kids are subject to police brutality, violence, and being forced into prostitution just for food or to stay alive. Street children face serious health problems ranging from malnourishment to lack of sleep, to no healthcare, to exposure to the elements. They are merely trying to survive so will not have access to education and things we often take for granted.


  • Children living on the streets are especially vulnerable to victimization, exploitation, and the abuse of their civil and economic rights.
  • 70% or more of street children are boys.
  • Most children on the streets are between the ages of about 5 and 17 years old.
